5 Ace Shirt Design Process

Break

In this section, we will outline the step-by-step process that your artwork will go through. At 5 Ace, we want you to be completely satisfied with our service, so we like you to be as informed as possible about the process and terms we use. Below, you will find a description of each stage the artwork goes through, along with a picture of what it looks like at that point. So, take a look and please feel free to email us if you have any questions or concerns.

Planning and Questions

The first step in getting artwork from us is by giving us a call and seeing what we can do for you. Then, you inform us of the specific style and image you would like the artwork to portray. If you have a particular setting you would like to include in the background, like a beach or vineyard, let us know so that we may incorporate it in your concept. Then, if you have pictures of your company or personal vehicle, boat, building or machinery that you would like featured in the artwork, you may email them to 5 Ace so we have an exact image to work from.

If desired, we may drive to your location (within Southern California) to take pictures for you. If you are within 25 miles of our base in Corona, there is no charge to you for us to drive to your location. If there isn’t a specific vehicle or machine that you would like to use, for a nominal fee 5 Ace can find one for you that you like.

Once pictures of the featured building, vehicle or machine are found, an exact quote for the artwork can be given. This quote includes the price of creating the piece of art from conception to completion. This quote does not include the cost of printing the design on shirts [shirt costs will vary depending on design, type and color]. Once the artwork and shirt type is chosen, then a quote for printing the shirts can be given.

Break
Inking

This is the stage where we outline the main vehicle, building, etc. Since this is the focal point of the artwork, we take great pride in making it highly detailed and stylized.

Break
Rough Layout

In this point of the artwork, we take your ideas and images and apply them to make a concept sketch. This will give you a basic idea of the art’s layout, so you may make suggestions and tell us if there is something you want to change. This is the easiest phase in the artwork at which we can make alterations to the design. It is important, then, for you to look over this sketch and carefully decide if there are any things you want to include or alter. The further the artwork progresses, the more difficult it is to change some things and the less cost effective it may become for you. So, take your time and let us know exactly what you are looking for so we can make it happen!

Break
Layout (the finished black line)

This is the step in which we create the complete black line for the artwork. There is no color yet, so it gives you time to see the completed layout so you can tell us what you think. It’s important for you to look over the artwork carefully so you can make sure you are completely satisfied with how the design looks [TIP: Carefully check that all dates, spellings of names are correct]. Alterations can be made to the layout at this stage, though some major changes may be difficult. If there is anything that you wish changed, just let us know and we will make every effort to insure that you are satisfied before we go to color. Also, this is a good time to tell us if you have any color preferences that you would like us to use or not use. If you let us know of any special color requirements ahead of time, we will be able to incorporate them from the beginning, avoiding any unnecessary alterations.

Once you’ve received the black line, if you haven’t already, this is also the time to think about what color and type of shirt you want this design printed on. There are wide varieties available like plain T’s, tank tops, Polo and sweatshirts as well as many different colors. Since the color of the shirts you choose affects the color that will be used for the artwork, it is helpful if you have an idea of what color of shirts you will eventually be using. If you need any help deciding on what shirts will be best for your uses, please feel free to ask and we will help you pick the most fitting shirts for your design.

Break
Color Rough

This is the point in which we lay down the basic color concept for your artwork, which will show you the color scheme we will be using. This is a great time for any input you want to give because this is the easiest step in the color process for us to make alterations. When you receive the color rough, please review the artwork carefully and decide if it is exactly how you like it. Once you are satisfied, we will go to the final color.

Break
Final Color

This is the last stage of the artwork, the point where you get to see the final product. Your design will be fully detailed and stylized at this point so it will have the finished, stand out appeal you desire. We can mail you your own CD with the finished artwork or, if you want, assist you with the next stage: getting your T-Shirts printed!
